Advancing Ethical AI Principles

Building further on the ideas in the above e-Book, use the resources below to deepen understanding, access interactive details and downloadable materials, culminating in a simple, practical and effective three-step implementation model.

Three Simple Steps to Safe and Ethical AI

All the good practice concepts, ideas, resources and templates described and linked to on this website have been brought together into a realistically achievable three-step process, all overseen by strong governance. Select the ‘Learn More’ button to implement the three-step process:

Step 1: Set Strong Foundations

Understand your contextual risks and opportunities, and write a whole-school, academy, or trust AI Vision and issue an AI Assurance Statement.

Step 2: Agree on Principles of Use

Define your Principles of AI Use that characterise in practical terms the non-negotiable requirements for the use of AI by staff and learners, and use them to write a strong staff AI Acceptable Use Policy and co-create a pupils’ or students’ AI Charter.

Step 3: Initiate safe Implementation

Use the Principles of AI Use to specify and deploy an AI Ethical Framework and Professional Implementation & Monitoring Model (PIMM), adopting a research, resource and review approach backed by strong governance.
